Portrait of Dr. Philip Efron.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Philip A. Efron on being selected as a Master of Critical Care Medicine (MCCM) by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM).

Dr. Efron was recognized for his longstanding service as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM) and for his exceptional achievements as a nationally and internationally respected leader in critical care. This distinction reflects his unwavering commitment to clinical excellence, innovation in research, dedication to education, and meaningful service to SCCM, ACCM, and the broader critical care community.

The MCCM designation is reserved for a select group of physicians whose careers demonstrate sustained leadership, scholarly impact, and significant contributions to advancing the science and practice of multiprofessional critical care. Recipients are recognized not only for their accomplishments, but also for their continued role as mentors and role models for the next generation of clinicians and investigators.

We look forward to sharing a follow-up feature in mid-April after the American College of Critical Care Medicine Convocation and the Society of Critical Care Medicine Awards Presentation, held in conjunction with the SCCM Critical Care Congress on March 23, 2026, at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Congratulations to Philip A. Efron, MD, FACS, FCCM, on this well-deserved and prestigious honor. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with you.
