Dr. Philip A. Efron Contributes to MQTiPSS 2.0 at International Sepsis Conference

Dr. Philip A. Efron, Director of the Sepsis and Critical Illness Research Center (SCIRC), recently participated in the 12th Wiggers-Bernard Conference Initiative (March 26–28, 2026) in Vienna, Austria, where global leaders in sepsis research convened to advance pre-clinical modeling standards.

Over two and a half days of intensive collaboration, international experts worked to refine the MQTiPSS 2.0 (Minimum Quality Threshold in Pre-Clinical Sepsis Studies) guidelines. The updated framework is designed to be more concise, clearer, and more impactful—strengthening rigor and reproducibility in sepsis research worldwide.

Dr. Efron also contributed to forward-looking discussions on innovative approaches, including pragmatic clinical trial concepts, reflecting a shared commitment to improving translation from bench to bedside.

The meeting fostered not only meaningful scientific progress but also strong international collaboration, reinforcing a global commitment to advancing sepsis research and improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Efron extends his sincere thanks to the Wiggers-Bernard Initiative and conference host for their leadership, and expresses deep appreciation for the outstanding contributions and collaborative spirit of his colleagues in the field.
