SCIRC Researcher Christine Rodhouse, MD Receives Surgical Infection Society Basic Science Excellence Award

Christine Rodhouse, MD, holds the Surgical Infection Society “Best Basic Science Excellence Award” plaque presented at the Society’s 45th Annual Meeting in Coronado, California, on May 6, 2026.The Sepsis and Critical Illness Research Center (SCIRC) is pleased to recognize Christine Rodhouse, MD, for receiving the Best Basic Science Excellence Award from the Surgical Infection Society during its 45th Annual Meeting, held May 6, 2026, in Coronado, California.

This award recognizes outstanding achievement and scientific excellence in basic science research related to surgical infection and critical illness. Dr. Rodhouse was selected for this distinction based on the quality and impact of her research contributions presented at the national meeting.

Dr. Rodhouse is a surgical research trainee affiliated with the University of Florida Department of Surgery and the SCIRC, where her work focuses on the immunologic and myeloid cell responses associated with sepsis, trauma, and chronic critical illness. Her research contributes to the Center’s broader mission of advancing translational discoveries that improve outcomes for critically ill patients.
